How Do I Go to the Istiklal Street (Istiklal Avenue)?
There are two ways to go to Istiklal Street. To get to the beginning of Istiklal Street, go to Taksim Square, it’s two mins walking from there. To find out how to go to Taksim Square, read our description of how to get to Taksim Square.
Another way to get to Istiklal Street is via the “Tünel”. The “Tünel” is the oldest underground system in Turkey and 2nd oldest in the world. It is an underground funicular line, F2, that goes from Karaköy (you can get to Karaköy via tram line T1), up to the end of Istiklal Street. This is also the same way to go to the Galata Tower.
